This workplace health and safety policy sets out the principles and practical steps we adopt to prevent harm, promote wellbeing and ensure a safe working environment for all. The senior leadership endorses a proactive approach that integrates safety into daily operations and decision-making. We view health and safety as a core value, not an add-on, and aim to foster a culture of care and continual improvement.

The scope of this occupational health and safety policy covers all activities undertaken by the organisation, including premises, remote working arrangements and off-site operations where we have influence. It applies to all personnel and extends to any contractors and visitors while on our premises. The policy emphasises hazard identification, risk assessment and the implementation of appropriate control measures. Responsibility for health and safety is shared: management provides leadership and resources, while everyone has a role in following safe systems and reporting concerns.

Roles and Responsibilities

Clear lines of accountability support the effective implementation of the Health & Safety Policy. Managers and supervisors are responsible for identifying hazards in their areas, ensuring safe work procedures, and providing training and supervision. Employees are expected to work safely, use personal protective equipment where required, and report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly. Our safety committee reviews performance and advises on improvements. Everyone has a duty to cooperate with health and safety arrangements.

Risk Management and Prevention

Risk management is central to our safety management system. We conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential sources of harm and determine risk control measures consistent with the hierarchy of control. Control measures may include elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls and personal protective equipment. Preventive maintenance, safe systems of work and clear information, instruction and training help reduce the likelihood of incidents. The safety policy emphasises prevention rather than reaction.

Training and competence are critical to the success of our safety efforts. We provide induction training for new starters, role-specific safety training and refresher sessions to maintain skills. Where necessary, specialist training is provided for high-risk tasks. Competence is assessed and records are maintained to ensure that the workforce is equipped to perform duties safely. In addition to formal training, on-the-job coaching and mentoring support safe behaviour and continuous learning within the workplace.

We maintain clear procedures for reporting incidents, accidents and near misses. Incident reporting enables timely investigation, root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence. The incident management process includes mechanisms for recording, investigating and learning from events, with outcomes shared appropriately to promote organisational learning. Confidentiality is respected where required and support is offered to affected individuals.

Emergency preparedness and resilience are embedded in our safety arrangements. We maintain emergency response plans, conduct drills and ensure that evacuation routes, first aid provision and emergency equipment are accessible and maintained. Coordination with external emergency services is undertaken as needed, while internal roles and responsibilities for emergencies are clearly defined. Ongoing review of emergency readiness ensures the organisation can respond effectively to a range of foreseeable situations.

Monitoring, auditing and performance measurement ensure that our safety policy is effective and remains relevant. We set measurable objectives and key performance indicators to track progress, conduct routine workplace inspections and periodic safety audits. Findings from monitoring activities inform management reviews and action plans. Continuous improvement is driven by analysis of data, feedback from the workforce and lessons learned from incidents and near misses.

Continuous review and policy maintenance are essential. This safety policy will be reviewed at planned intervals and updated when necessary to reflect changes in operations, emerging risks or advances in best practice. The review process ensures that the health and safety management system evolves in line with organisational growth and changing circumstances. Implementation plans are prioritised based on risk and available resources, with progress reported to senior management for oversight and direction.
